MODULAR RAILROAD
Over the years, members of the Carson City Railroad Association have built many HO-scale layout modules that are assembled into a "pop-up" model railroad for train shows, museums, and special events. The modules are 48" x 30" and are built to a common standard, so that they can be assembled in many different ways to fit various spaces and needs. We've run layouts as small as 8' x 16' and as large as 16' x 32'. The assembled layout has two mainline tracks and numerous sidings, and can be operated in DC or DCC modes, allowing us to run as many as 6 trains at once. Volunteer members from CCRA bring their own trains to run, and often provide entertaining and informative commentary on the history of railroading in Nevada and Eastern California.
In recent years, we've set up at Colfax Railroad Days, Nevada State Railroad Museum for their Santa Train, and at the Reno Home Show. If your organization is interested in hosting our railroad layout for a special event or program, contact us at CarsonCityRailroadAssoc@gmail.com. There is no charge for non-profit organizations.
